A tragic motor accident on the way to Saminaka in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State resulted in the deaths of at least 35 individuals. The victims were en route to celebrate Eid-el-Maulud, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, when their Peugeot J5 bus collided head-on with another vehicle.
The collision has severely disrupted the planned celebrations. Although official responses from the authorities are still pending, Mallam Abdullahi, one of the event organizers, shared details of the incident during an interview on Monday. He lamented that the accident had significantly affected their arrangements for the religious observance.
According to Abdullahi, approximately 35 victims were transported to a medical facility in Plateau State, where they are receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the crash. In addition to the head-on collision, another vehicle in the group was involved in a separate accident with a motorbike, resulting in further fatalities and injuries.
Abdullahi reported that there were about 70 people, including women and children, in the convoy. The injured have been taken to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) in Jos for medical care. The devastating incident has cast a shadow over the Eid-el-Maulud celebrations, leaving the community in mourning.
