Aloy Ejimakor, the special counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has reiterated that Kanu is not a terrorist. Ejimakor stated that Kanu is a leader with a vast following, and his supporters will not stop fighting for his freedom.
Ejimakor emphasized that it is implausible for three courts to award monetary compensation and unconditional release to someone labeled as a terrorist.
In a message shared on X, Ejimakor wrote, “The truth is clear: A terrorist cannot receive monetary compensation from three High Courts, be unconditionally released by the Court of Appeal and the United Nations. #FreeMNK. Kanu is not a terrorist. He is a leader with millions of followers who will continue to demand his release.”
Since his arrest in Kenya in 2021, Kanu, the IPOB leader, has been held in detention by the Department of State Services (DSS) on the Nigerian government’s orders.
Despite court orders granting Kanu his freedom, the Nigerian government has refused to release him.
IPOB recently accused the DSS of denying Kanu access to visitors and expressed concerns about his deteriorating health condition.
