In order to keep his earlier pledge to provide the pupils with the facilities they require, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, the governor of Ekiti State, has personally donated N1.5 million and hundreds of mattresses to the three special schools in the state.

Government Special School for the Physically Challenged and Mentally Retarded, Ido, Government Special School for the Deaf, Ikoro, and Government Special School for the Blind, Ikere, are the benefiting institutions.

The governor’s wife, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, made the donation on his behalf and claimed it was done out of concern for the welfare of pupils with disabilities in the state.

The governor’s wife stated that additional goals of the visit included ensuring an on-site evaluation of the school’s facilities and determining the welfare and well-being of the special kids.

Oyebanji charged the teachers and other staff to continue to show love to the students, encouraging them to return the love and kindness of the current administration by being obedient and paying more attention to their education. He also promised that there would be frequent visits to the schools to make sure that the students are receiving the proper attention.

“You are special and dear to the heart of the governor and the state government,” she told the youngsters. Your welfare and well-being are thus given special consideration. I expect you to return the favor by placing a high priority on your education, which will position you for success in the future.

She challenged them to consider themselves unique creations of God with a mission to carry out.
