Tunji Wusu –

Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was present in court for his arraignment on suspected N6.9 billion fraud, but the judge had to reschedule his arraignment.

According to Premium Times, Emefiele’s scheduled arraignment on accusations of procurement fraud before the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja on Thursday, August 17, 2023 was halted due to the lack of a co-defendant.

Despite being represented by a lawyer, co-defendant Sa’adatu Ramalan-Yaro was stated to be absent from court due to #ll health. Mr Emefiele, on the other hand, was there and appeared to be about to be arraigned in a case involving 20 charges of conspiracy and procuring frad.

The case was heard before Hamzat Muazu, a judge of the Maitama Division of the FCT High Court.

The case was deferred until August 23 for arraignment.
