The Nigeria Police Force has placed its personnel at strategic places in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, over the EndSARS memorial protest, to mark a year some Nigerian youths were allegedly killed by soldiers at the Lekki toll plaza in Lagos.

The youths, who were protesting against extrajudicial killing, bad governance at Lekki tollgate, were allegedly gunned down on October 20, 2020.

Some youths have commenced the memorial protest in Abuja, Akure, Ibadan and Lagos while there have been reports of arrests.

Meanwhile, in Osun, police have taken over Ola-Iya, Old-Garage, Oke-Fia, Kaleyemi, and other places where protests were held in the past.

The Osun State Commissioner of Police, Wale Olokode, who was monitoring the operatives at Old-garage, Osogbo, said there is no street protest in Osogbo.

“Government has given those who want to mark the EndSARS memorial a venue to do the review of the event. There have been no arrests in Osun so far and I don’t pray there will be any,” he said.
