Cristiano Ronaldo was named to the lineup in Portugal’s first match following the World Cup’s elimination, and the roster for the 2024 European Championship qualifiers was also confirmed.
On March 24, Portugal will play Liechtenstein; three days later, it will play Luxembourg. The two contests will mark Roberto Martinez’s first international competitions in command of the team since he took over following his resignation as head coach of Belgium following the World Cup.
Ronaldo will be back in action for his country during the qualifications after an unceremonious withdrawal from what may have been his final FIFA World Cup. In Portugal’s final two matches in Qatar, against Switzerland and Portugal, the 38-year-old began from the bench.
