Chief Adefemi Egbeoluwa and his wife Olufunmilayo Egbeoluwa were murdered in March 2023 at their home in the Lagos neighborhood of Allen Avenue. The police in Lagos State have now apprehended the suspected killers of the couple, who were a former permanent secretary in Ogun State.
The couple’s former driver, Wale Adeyemo, who allegedly made contact with other gang members, was among the suspects who were detained.
However, despite being seriously hurt in the confrontation with the suspects, one of the domestic workers claimed to the authorities that the couple was slain because they had recognized their former employee while being attacked.
The suspect further admitted to the police that they went to the deceased couple’s home with the purpose of robbing them, not killing them.
Idowu Owphunwa, the state police commissioner for Lagos State, verified the arrest of the accused while presenting all of the suspects detained in recent months.
According to the head of the Lagos Police Department, two men, Kingsley Chibueze, 26, and Wale Adeyemo, 37, were detained for the horrifying murder of an elderly couple at their home on March 19, 2023.
Investigations found that Wale, a former employee of the couple who asked to be paid off and received it at some point in February when money was tight, enlisted Kingsley to help him carry out his intentions to rob the victims.
The robbery eventually resulted in the couple’s grisly death and the violent attack on the housemaid, CP Owohunwa continued.
The suspects left with two Samsung smartphones and an unaccounted-for amount of money in dollars and naira, the speaker said.
