Three people have received honorary doctorates from Federal University Dutsin Ma, Katsina State: Ibrahim Shema, a former governor of the state; Umar Faruk Umar, the emir of Daura; and Nasir Bayero, the emir of Bichi.
During the combined seventh and eighth convocations of the institution, the degrees were awarded at the take-off site.
Two-term governor Mr. Shema received an honorary doctor of law degree, Mr. Umar received an honorary doctor of letters degree, and Mr. Bayero received an honorary doctor of business administration degree.
Vice Chancellor of the University Armaya’u Bichi said at the event that three famous and eminent Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in many spheres of human endeavors will be conferred honorary degrees.
Mr. Shema thanked the institution in his remarks for helping to shape his life’s path.
He challenged the class of 2023, their predecessors, and the university itself to stand as ambassadors for the benefits that a carefully crafted education can provide.

According to Mr. Bichi, the institution graduated 4365 undergraduates and 401 postgraduate students in two groups.
Of this total, 168 hold academic master’s degrees, 73 hold professional diplomas, 149 hold PGDs, and 11 hold PhDs. A total of 4365 students are graduating from our program. Mr. Bichi said, “Of this total, 112 have first-class degrees, 1131 have second-class upper degrees, 2476 have second-class lower degrees, and 646 have third-class degrees.”
Among the accomplishments the university has documented under his leadership, according to the vice chancellor, are the following: the establishment of an entrepreneurship center, the opening of a school of basic and remedial studies, the expansion of the faculty from three to fourteen, and the approval of several research grants.
“We have witnessed the development of infrastructure with three hostels for female students, each with 360 beds, two auditoriums with a capacity of 250 seats, a two-story building block for our junior secondary school, and numerous other structures that are under construction or near completion, as well as one multipurpose laboratory,” the speaker stated.
