On Sunday, Mu’azu Sambo, the minister of transportation, announced that the country’s economic position will lead to an increase in the fare for rail service.
The minister said there would be night travel in addition to a reduction in the number of trips made each day.
While surveying the train station on Sunday in Kaduna, Sambo revealed this to the media.
The number of journeys would be lowered, he declared. You should naturally anticipate that some passengers won’t feel comfortable boarding the train for obvious reasons.
Furthermore, he said that as more people traveled, there would be more journeys made each day.

“Since we are all human, it is only natural for us to feel a little uneasy until we can verify that all safety precautions have been taken. Therefore, we will make fewer journeys initially, but when more people start to travel, we will make more excursions, but for the time being, we will undoubtedly not travel at night.
“Please be prepared for fare increases. To determine whether it will be instantaneous or we will need some time, I am currently in final discussions with the management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation and the management of the ministry.
“We are all aware that prices have increased; even travel costs have increased, yet no one has complained about it. Why do people only respond when there is a change in train fares? We are a very sensitive government, so I can tell you that the poor masses will be cared for and taken into consideration.
