Panic gripped Benin City, Edo State, on Thursday morning when a CNG-powered vehicle exploded at the NIPCO filling station along the Benin-Auchi Expressway. The deafening blast caused chaos as people fled the area in fear, with video footage showing the vehicle shattered by the explosion.

Three individuals were injured in the incident and have been rushed to a private hospital for urgent medical care. The explosion has heightened concerns over the safety of converting petrol-powered vehicles to compressed natural gas (CNG), a move the Federal Government has promoted as a way to reduce transportation costs after the removal of fuel subsidies.

In recent times, Nigerians have expressed fears towards the CNG Powered vehicles which is meant to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal by President Tinubu.
