–Aladi Offikwu to Be Laid to Rest in Her Hometown Amid Calls for Justice
The family of Aladi Offikwu Johnson, the 24-year-old lady from Benue State who was brutally murdered in an Abuja hotel, has released her burial arrangements.
Aladi was killed on Monday, June 15, by a still unidentified person in a hotel situated along 3rd Avenue, Gwarinpa, Federal Capital Territory.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Mr. Mike Abu, who spoke on behalf of the grieving family, it was disclosed that a wake-keeping ceremony will be held at the family residence in Masaka, Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
Her body will depart Abuja on Monday, June 23, for her ancestral home in Olaidu, Edumoga Ehaje, located in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State, where she will be buried the same day at the family compound.
Aladi’s death had earlier drawn public outrage and renewed concerns over women’s safety in urban spaces. She had reportedly checked into the hotel with a male companion, who was later seen leaving without her.
Hotel staff discovered her unconscious during a routine service check. She was rushed for medical attention but was confirmed dead on arrival.
Despite launching an investigation, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has yet to identify or apprehend the suspect responsible for the heinous crime.
The family has called for speedy justice, urging security agencies to intensify efforts in tracking down the perpetrator and ensuring that Aladi’s killer does not walk free.
