Two passengers died and one motorcycle rider was injured in a crash between a speeding commercial motorcycle and a Howo truck in the Chelsea area, inbound Atan on Ota-Idiroko Expressway.

The accident occurred around 1:00 p.m. on Friday, involving four individuals.

Victims’ bodies were taken to Ifo General Hospital, while the injured rider was admitted at Ota General Hospital.

TRACE has towed the truck to clear the road and urges all road users to practice patience and avoid speeding to reduce accidents.
The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) confirmed a tragic road accident on the Ota-Idiroko Expressway that resulted in two fatalities and one injury. According to Mr. Adekunle Ajibade, TRACE’s South-West Area Commander, a commercial motorcycle marked KTU 643 QQ lost control due to speeding and collided head-on with a Howo truck in the Chelsea area inbound at Atan. The crash involved four individuals, leaving two passengers dead and the motorcycle rider injured.
Emergency responses were swift, with the victims’ remains transported to Ifo General Hospital, and the injured promptly taken to Ota General Hospital for medical care. Authorities moved the truck off the road to prevent traffic congestion in the aftermath. TRACE officials have reiterated the importance of safe driving practices, advising motorists and motorcyclists alike to avoid speed and exercise patience to help prevent similar avoidable accidents on the busy expressway.
