-Recognition spotlights FCMB’s role in shaping young Nigerian innovators and leaders
First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has been honoured with the Changemaker Collaboration Award by Enactus Nigeria in recognition of its impactful contributions to youth leadership, entrepreneurship, and social innovation across the country.
The award was presented on July 3, 2025, during the 25th Anniversary Gala and Awards Ceremony of Enactus Nigeria held in Lagos. The event celebrated institutions and partners that have significantly contributed to the growth of young Nigerians as agents of change.
Enactus Nigeria, active in over 30 tertiary institutions, empowers students to implement entrepreneurial projects that address community challenges. Speaking at the event, Michael Ajayi, Country Manager of Enactus Nigeria, praised FCMB’s consistent partnership and commitment to youth development.
“FCMB’s unwavering commitment to the Enactus movement has gone beyond sponsorship—it is a true collaboration rooted in shared values of innovation, inclusion, and youth empowerment,” Ajayi said.
“The Bank’s belief in the potential of Nigerian students has helped us deliver measurable impact in dozens of communities.”
Representing FCMB at the event, Omoniyi Iyanda, Head of CSR and Sustainability, reaffirmed the bank’s focus on sustainable development and its dedication to fostering innovation.
“We are honoured to receive this recognition from Enactus Nigeria, an organisation whose work aligns with FCMB’s purpose of fostering inclusive and sustainable growth,” Iyanda stated.
“Our partnership reflects our belief in young Nigerians as catalysts for economic transformation. By equipping them with skills, resources, and platforms to lead social change, we are building a future where innovation drives prosperity for all.”
Over the years, FCMB has been instrumental in strengthening Enactus Nigeria’s reach by providing students with the tools, training, and mentorship needed to craft innovative, practical solutions to real-world problems.
Through the annual Enactus Challenge, the Bank has helped student-led teams create projects that address issues in clean energy, agriculture, financial literacy, and gender equality—initiatives that continue to leave a lasting mark on underserved communities.
This award reaffirms FCMB’s standing as one of Nigeria’s most socially responsible financial institutions. Beyond corporate social responsibility, FCMB champions inclusive growth by promoting entrepreneurship, community development, and financial inclusion, opening doors for individuals and small businesses to access training, credit, and development opportunities.
