Dr. Sadiq Abubakar, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command’s Commissioner of Police, has ordered the deployment of 17,401 personnel in preparation for the Saturday elections for the National Assembly and the Presidency in Abuja.
Abubakar also met with the Joint Task Force of security organizations formed to guarantee security for the general elections on February 25 in the Federal Capital Territory.
The information was revealed by the CP on Thursday at an Eagles Square press conference.
According to him, the command divided the FCT into nine sectors, each of which would be overseen by an Assistant Commissioner of Police to keep an eye on operations. The separation was made to provide appropriate coverage of the entire territory, particularly the suburbs and difficult terrains, he added.
He added that the public will have access to the ACPs’ phone numbers so that concerns and information could be shared more easily.
The NPF and, of course, other security agencies that are assisting agencies are fully prepared for the conduct of the elections, according to Abubakar. Also, our officers’ welfare and benefits are available and will be delivered to them.
“We are completely ready. In the Federal Capital Territory, we are providing election security with a total of around 17,401 personnel. We also have other people from different departments and authorities. In addition, there are other officers from different commands and divisions who will be present for the elections.
“We’re also using a show of force to send a message to criminals and anyone who intend to obstruct the electoral process that we’re prepared and that we won’t stop until the election is held peacefully.
“The Command has always posted phone numbers for people to call, along with my number, so they can always get in touch with the Command to file concerns at any moment.
The FCT has been divided into nine sectors, each of which will be staffed by an ACP, whose contact information will be made public. Additionally, we have plans in place to reach all of the suburbs and terrains located within the FCT.
