Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, the FCT Minister, has urged citizens of the capital city to act politely in order to ensure the success of the FCT elections in 2023.
In a message to citizens about the 2023 general elections, which are set to take place nationwide on Saturday, February 25, 2023, the Minister issued the charge.
Malam Bello asked everyone to carry out their civic responsibility of casting their ballots for the candidates of their choice in a calm and orderly way while adhering to all established security and election rules.
“I want to encourage to the inhabitants to be peaceful, uphold the law, and go out in large numbers to cast your votes, since it is by your votes that you will choose who will represent you in the National Assembly,” he stated.
And I am confident that by maintaining discipline and abiding by the rules established by INEC and the security agencies, you will all do us proud.
Malam Bello also praised citizens from all political parties for their civil behavior and decorum during the recent electioneering campaigns, noting that this was proof that the FCT’s democratic culture has developed.
“I want to applaud all residents, representing all political parties, for the outstanding decorum and peaceful electioneering campaign that has been taking place over the last few months in the Federal Capital Territory,” he continued.
This has served as further evidence that democracy has developed in the FCT, as all candidates, regardless of political affiliation, adhered to the rules and conducted their campaigns with decorum, discipline, and most importantly, respect for one another.
Malam Bello added, “Therefore, everyone should go out, become accredited, and vote for candidates of their choosing. This will help further ingrain the values of democracy in the FCT. And you will strengthen democracy in the Federal Capital Territory by doing so.
