Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike on Monday morning received the remains of the late Barinada Mpigi at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The minister, who arrived at around 5:30 a.m., was joined by the senator’s wife, Patricia Obiageri Mpigi, and their children, along with several dignitaries including PDP Board of Trustees chairman Mao Ohuabunwa, senators Philip Aduda, Magnus Abe, Allwell Onyesoh, Olaka Nwogu, House of Representatives minority leader Kingsley Chinda, Rivers State coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Desmond Akawor, and APC national vice chairman (South-South) Victor Giadom.
Barinada Mpigi passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, in London at the age of 64. Minister Wike had previously visited the senator’s family in London to offer condolences and oversee arrangements for the repatriation of his remains.
