The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has commenced activities to mark National Police Day 2025 with a three-day Community Outreach, beginning with a Clean-Up Exercise in Garki, Abuja.
Under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Ajao S. Adewale, the initiative aims to strengthen police-community relations while promoting safety and social responsibility. This year’s theme, “Say NO to Crime,” focuses on combating cultism, drug abuse, sexual-based violence, cybercrime, kidnapping, and other social vices.
On the first day of the outreach, police officers, led by CP Adewale, conducted a clean-up exercise at Lagos Street, Garki, and the Palace of the Sa’peyi of Garki. The Commissioner emphasized that a clean environment contributes to security and community development, reinforcing the police force’s role beyond crime-fighting.
CP Adewale expressed appreciation for the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, commending his commitment to modernizing the force and strengthening community policing.
The outreach program will continue until April 5, with more engagements planned to foster collaboration between law enforcement and residents. The FCT Police Command has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities through its emergency helplines: 08032003913, 08028940883.
SP Josephine Adeh, the Police Public Relations Officer for the FCT Command, reaffirmed the police’s dedication to ensuring safety and called for active participation in the remaining activities of the outreach.
