The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has intensified its fight against infrastructure vandalism, recovering ten additional stolen manhole covers. This latest seizure brings the total number of retrieved covers to 125, highlighting the Command’s sustained efforts to curb the destruction and theft of public property.

Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives carried out a targeted operation in the Dei-Dei area on February 4, 2025.

During the raid, officers discovered the stolen manhole covers hidden in a pit. This successful operation was made possible through a tip-off from a vigilant resident, reinforcing the importance of public cooperation in tackling crime.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Olatunji Disu, psc, has issued a strong warning to individuals involved in vandalism and the illegal trade of stolen public assets.

He reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to rooting out infrastructure theft and dismantling criminal syndicates operating within the FCT.

“We will not rest until we rid the FCT of those who target public infrastructure for selfish gain. Our officers are intensifying their search for stolen items, including raiding illegal storage facilities where these criminals hide vandalized materials,” CP Disu stated.

This latest operation follows a significant breakthrough last week when the Command, in collaboration with the Joint Task Force (JTF) established by the Honourable Minister of the FCT, successfully intercepted and recovered vandalized public infrastructure.

Commending the residents for their continued support, CP Disu urged them to remain vigilant. He emphasized that safeguarding public assets is a collective responsibility, crucial to maintaining a secure and functional environment for all.

The FCT Police Command encourages residents to report any suspicious activities using the following emergency contacts: 08032003913, 08028940883, 07057337653. Complaints can also be directed to the Complaint Response Unit at 08107314192 or the Public Complaint Bureau at 09022222352.
