Tunji Wusu –
The new Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan, 2021–2025, is now being taught to 1,500 employees by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
The Department of Reform Coordination and Service Improvement is in charge of conducting the training, according to Mallam Mohammed Bashir, Director of Human Resources at FCTA.
He clarified that Mrs. Folashade Yemi-Esan, the Federation’s Head of Service, was the driving force behind the civil service policy.
He claims that the goal of the training is to increase the effectiveness of service delivery by bringing administrative workers from level 12 to level 16 up to speed on the new approach.
“The reform aims to bring about a new era in the public service, where analog practices will be replaced by digital workplace and skills that are in keeping with the present digital realities.
Every employee in the system will receive a schedule as a result of this reform, and they will all be evaluated using a new performance management system that is based on standard operating procedure, he added.
Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, acting director of RCSI, emphasized the necessity for all civil officials to adapt to the digitally driven environment in her speech.
For optimum efficiency, Ahmadu continued, civil officials must adopt technology and familiarize themselves with digital record-keeping procedures.
She added that the government already has a reward system in place to recognize effort and emphasized the importance of hard work and rewards for great federal officials.
“A civil servant received a brand-new car at the 2023 Civil Service Week that the Head of Service organized, while other employees won cash prizes totaling N500,000.
“A key element of FCTA is the culture of change, which includes arriving at work early and acting morally to increase productivity.
The director added, “We must be prepared to change from our old ways so that the world would not leave us behind.”
She stated that after starting with 150 employees, the training will continue until every employee had received it.
