FEC Approves ₦438bn Road Projects, Trailer Park Concessions

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved about ₦438 billion in road projects alongside several trailer park concessions across Nigeria.

The approvals came during Wednesday’s FEC meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, disclosed the decisions while briefing State House correspondents.

Under the road projects, the council approved ₦159.83 billion for the reconstruction of the Ado-Ekiti–Iyin–Aramoko–Itawure–Osun border road in Ekiti State. CBC Global Civil and Building Construction Nigeria Ltd will handle the project.

The FEC also approved a ₦54.12 billion variation for the rehabilitation of the Abeokuta–Iboro–Ilaro Road in Ogun State. Another ₦74.51 billion will fund the reconstruction of the 15-kilometre Port Harcourt–Eleme Junction–Onne Port Junction section of the East-West Road in Rivers State. RCC Nigeria Ltd will complete that project within nine months.

In Ekiti, the council approved ₦54.52 billion for Phase II of the Ado-Ekiti–Afe Babalola University Road rehabilitation, while ₦94.24 billion will support Phases II–V of the Ilara–Iselu Road in Ogun State.

The FEC road projects also include public-private partnership concessions. These cover the 7.9-kilometre Dikko–Maje section of the Suleja–Minna Road at ₦56.75 billion, with a 40-year concession to Graciatech Engineering Nigeria Ltd.

A 25-year concession for the operation and maintenance of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway was approved at ₦96.43 billion. The council also approved a ₦19.70 billion, 50-year concession for a greenfield trailer park at Aro-Ngwa in Abia State.

These FEC road projects and concessions are expected to support transport infrastructure and improve road-related services across the country.
