The Federal Government has announced a full investigation into the deadly airstrike that claimed 10 lives in Gidan Bisa and Runtuwa villages, located in Sokoto State’s Silame Local Government Area. The assurance came from the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, during a condolence visit to Governor Ahmed Aliyu in Sokoto on Friday.
In a statement released on Saturday, Governor Aliyu’s spokesman, Abubakar Bawa, quoted Matawalle as affirming that justice would prevail and reiterating the government’s commitment to ensuring citizens’ safety nationwide.
Matawalle condemned the actions of terrorists disrupting the peace and assured that the government would take firm action. He also commended Governor Aliyu for his proactive stance in the fight against banditry, highlighting his unique request for a military base in Sokoto to bolster security. The minister reaffirmed military support in enhancing the state’s safety.
