Babatunji Wusu –
To honor Democracy Day this year, the Federal Government has designated Wednesday, June 12, 2024 as a public holiday.
The statement was released on Tuesday, June 11, by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
He remarked, “Let us all reflect on the efforts of our founding fathers and ensure that Nigeria remains a united, secure, peaceful, and indivisible entity as we mark another Democracy day in the history of our dear country.”
“We’ve successfully finished the search and rescue mission I directed to locate the missing aircraft carrying our vice president and nine other people. The aircraft has been located. And it has turned out to be a terrible tragedy, for which I am sincerely sorry and devastated.
All of the passengers on board were killed on impact, leaving the aircraft entirely destroyed and without a survivor. “There are no words to express how devastating this is,” Chakwera remarked.
Shanil Dzimbiri, the former first lady of Malawi, was also present.
