The Federal Government has held a high-level interactive session with international airline operators and key private sector stakeholders ahead of the maiden edition of the Nigeria International Air Show scheduled to take place in December 2025.

The meeting, convened by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, mni, marks a significant step towards mobilizing global and local participation in what is set to be the country’s first international aviation exhibition.

Addressing participants at the forum, Dr. Kana said the engagement was crucial to unveiling investment opportunities and fostering public-private partnerships necessary for the sustainable development of Nigeria’s aviation sector.

“The aviation industry is a critical driver of economic development,” he stated. “We are optimistic that the Air Show will not only open up new avenues for investors but also deepen existing collaborations.”

Dr. Kana emphasized that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration is committed to supporting private sector initiatives aimed at transforming the aviation landscape. He said the international air show would serve as a platform to boost investor confidence and project Nigeria as ready and open for business.

He encouraged airline operators to key into the initiative, assume ownership of the process, and play active roles in ensuring the success of the event.

Also speaking at the session, the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria International Air Show, Bria Williams, commended the Ministry for its backing, particularly the establishment of a dedicated secretariat for the event. She said the air show would showcase Nigeria’s aviation potential and attract global attention.

“The initiative aims to boost the Nigerian aviation industry, strengthen the national economy, and draw more private partners to work with Nigeria,” he said.

“It will also bridge the connectivity gap across the region, encourage intra-African trade, and enhance synergy between financial institutions and the aviation sector.”

Airline operators and diplomatic representatives in attendance included Value Jet Airline, Air France, Badr Airlines, the Moroccan Embassy, and Turkish Airlines. All pledged their commitment to supporting the air show and advancing the vision of a vibrant, investor-friendly aviation industry in Nigeria.

The Nigeria International Air Show is expected to be a flagship event, opening doors to new opportunities in aviation, tourism, infrastructure development, and international trade.
