December 1st, is the Federal Government’s deadline for all its employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19 before access to public offices applies to them, the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, has reminded corps members.
He called on the NYSC members to get vaccinated against the deadly pandemic assuring that the vaccines would be made available to them throughout the service year.
General Ibrahim, who was represented by the Osun NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Winifred Shokpeka, made this known Tuesday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2021 Batch C Stream II orientation course at the NYSC orientation camp, Ede.
The NYSC DG asked the corps members to adhere religiously to the COVID-19 safety protocols in order to stay safe.
Ibrahim, who advised all the corps members to always be security conscious at all times also charged them to avoid social vices like cultism and drug abuse that could put them in harm’s way.
On her part, Shokpeka stated that the essence of the creation of the scheme was to enable the members to be self-reliant so as to contribute to the growth and national development.
While charging them to concentrate more on things that unite the country and strengthen integration rather than cause division, Shokpeka noted that it was the main reason why the orientation course was developed.
She also called on the corps members to fully participate in camp activities as a way of increasing their knowledge of their fellow countrymen.
She urged the corps members to ensure to use their social media presence to spread and promote love rather than fake news.
