The Coalition for True Governance (CTG), a prominent supporter of peace, justice, and human rights, has denounced the heinous killings of Eze Victor Ijioma, the traditional prime minister of the Mgbele community in the same Oguta Local Government Area as well as the traditional ruler of the Orsu Obodo community in Imo State.

The group claimed in a statement on Friday that the killing of these traditional leaders, who represent stability, tradition, and community solidarity, is a horrifying act of violence. The Nigerian government must act right away to address this horrifying occurrence and bring peace to Oguta and all of Imo State.

Chief Charles Odenigbo, the convener, called on the federal government to declare a “State of Emergency” in Imo while stating that Governor Hope Uzodinma has completely failed to protect the lives and property of state citizens.

The Nigerian government is urged to declare a state of emergency in Imo State as a result. This statement is required to ensure that security forces are quickly deployed and that safety precautions are taken to stop further loss of life and property. The declaration of an emergency will give the administration the power and resources it needs to stop the violence from getting worse and reestablish law and order.

“Governor Hope Uzodinma is a failure; he has demonstrated this time and time again.

that he is incapable of leading and ensuring the security of people and property in the state. This relentless carnage must end.

“Furthermore, we call on the government to open a full inquiry into the killing of the Oguta traditional leader in order to find and prosecute its perpetrators. It is essential that everyone engaged, irrespective of their position or power, accepts responsibility for their actions. The government needs to show that it is dedicated to respecting the law and safeguarding the lives and welfare of its people.

“We beg the Nigerian government to give Imo State’s measures for community participation, communication, and reconciliation top priority. Fostering long-term peace and stability requires developing trust between the local populace, security organizations, and the government.

We request that the international community, particularly regional organizations and human rights groups, closely monitor the situation in Imo State and give the Nigerian government the support and assistance it needs to restore peace and security.
