The Federal Government has loosened travel regulations for airline passengers and other parties in response to a decline in COVID-19 cases nationwide. Sen. Hadi Sirika, the minister of aviation, announced it on Monday using his official Twitter account, @hadisirika.
“Glad to inform that the government has eliminated the permission to travel QR code,” he tweeted. Face mask usage is now optional, and travel-related PCR tests have been discontinued. There will be a new aviation boom.
The amended travel protocol was described in detail in a letter from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) dated December 12, 2022.
All aviation service providers were the recipients of the letter, which was signed by Captain Musa Nuhu, the Director-General of NCAA.
“The prevalence of COVID-19 pandemic has stayed at a low level in Nigeria and most parts of the world for a sustained period,” the letter said.
Therefore, the COVID-19/Public Health guidelines have been updated by the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 (PSC).
The wearing of face masks within airport terminal buildings and on board aircraft by airport staff, passengers, and crew members is no longer required for domestic operations, it was said.
