Sen. Ademola Jackson Adeleke, the incoming governor of Osun State, will receive the Afro humanitarian Ambassador Award on November 27th, the day of his oath of office.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Tuesday that was made available to newsmen in Lokoja by a film director named Taiwo Oduala, the founder and executive producer of the Afro Awards.
Oduala, who is also the CEO of the Oduataj Foundation, claimed that Adeleke’s inability to attend the 2022 Afro Award ceremony on November 6 in Los Angeles, California, USA, was the reason for the decision to hold the event on that day.
“Since the Governor-elect was grieving and unable to travel to our Award Ceremony, which was held in Los Angeles, California, USA, we decided to hold it on December 27, the day he will take office as governor of Osun State.
For his exceptional accomplishments in humanitarian assistance both inside and outside of Nigeria, we will be honoring him with a Humanitarian Award, he stated.
The Los Angeles 2022 Afro Award Ceremony, which drew numerous luminaries from both America and Africa, was hailed by the film’s director as “extremely successful” and “encouraging.”
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, Aliko Dangote, the founder and CEO of the Dangote Group and a wealthy businessman, Davido, a Nigerian singer, and Her Excellency Fatima Maada-Bio, the First Lady of Sierra Leone, are among the recipients, he said.
The 2022 Honorees include Hubert Nakitare (a hip-hop artist), Tina Weisinger (the founder of the HAPAwards), Harry O’ Harrison (the creator of Death Row Records), Curtis Young (a rapper and the son of Dr. Dre), Ayuko Babu (the founder and CEO of the Pan African Film Festival), Masika Kalysha (of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood and We TV’s Growing Up Hip Hop), and Roche (CEO of Rocky R&P Entertainment).
Others include Kandi Conda (Owner of Celebrity Brand), Dr. Lance McCarthy (Business Consultant; Humanitarian), Ade James (African Legendary Photographer; Humanitarian), Charmaine Blake (Owner of Charmaine PR Firm), and Madam Lara Okunubi (Philanthropist/Humanitarian), among others.
