In the Women’s Champions League final, both teams have a point to make.
Prior to being defeated by Lyon last season, Barcelona was aiming for consecutive championships. Wolfsburg, a two-time winner, lost their last three attempts to advance. They will clash on Saturday at PSV Stadium in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
For Barcelona, this is their fourth championship game in the previous five years. The Catalan club defeated Chelsea 4-0 in 2021 to win the trophy for the first time ever by a Spanish team.
“I think we need to appreciate what reaching our fourth final means because the road has not been easy,” Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmat told The Associated Press. “You have to give it the credit it deserves when you look back at the teams we have defeated and everything we have won.”
