A massive fire has destroyed a market in Masaka, Karu local government area, Nasarawa State, leaving traders in distress. Eyewitnesses say the fire, which broke out around 10:00 PM on Friday, quickly spread across the market, destroying goods and property.

As of the time of filing, fire service personnel had not yet arrived to contain the blaze, and parts of the market continued to burn. Videos shared on social media show traders lamenting their losses, with some seen rummaging through the charred remains in search of valuables.

 

This is the second fire to hit the market in recent years, following a similar incident in 2019. The cause of the fire remains unclear, and local authorities have yet to comment on the situation.
