First Lady of Nigeria

APC youth buses received a major boost after First Lady Oluremi Tinubu donated nine vehicles to support party activities and community service.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the First Lady presented the buses on Friday at the State House to the APC National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, and the Deputy National Youth Leader, Jamaludeen Kabir. She praised the youth leaders for working together in unity to strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the grassroots level.

The donation follows a similar gesture in which Oluremi Tinubu presented buses to the party’s zonal women leaders during the launch of the “Tinubu Torchbearers” support group. She encouraged young people to embrace patience, integrity and hard work, stressing that success comes through diligence rather than the pursuit of quick wealth.

Explaining the source of the vehicles, the First Lady said they were purchased through donations from well-meaning individuals who support her work. She said she chose to give the buses to the youth because of their commitment to the party. She told the beneficiaries, “God always knows our needs, and that is what the young people do not know. They are always in a hurry, but you are not selfish.” She also added, “In this office, I don’t beg. God told me not to beg. It is whatever He provides that I work with, and I am teaching you how to learn contentment and not be begarly. You have done well because you have never made such requests from my office, I am delighted because you need the buses to work.”

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Dayo Israel thanked the First Lady and pledged continued support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections. He said, “You have raised boys to men; we came here, many of us without vehicles, but we are leaving with brand new buses.” He added that the APC youth buses would strengthen mobilisation efforts across the 36 states and improve outreach to communities. The APC youth buses were presented in the presence of the party’s zonal youth leaders from across the country.

Do you think initiatives like this can strengthen grassroots political engagement among young people?
