Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, allegedly abandoned the catastrophic circumstances in his native Anambra to play politics with flood victims in Benue State, according to Ossai Ovie Success, special assistant to Delta State Governor on media.

Ossai responded to Obi’s request for his PDP and APC rivals, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, among others, to pause their campaigns and join him in aiding flood victims throughout the federation in a Facebook post on Thursday.

Obi visited Samuel Ortom, the governor of Benue State, on Wednesday to express his sympathy for the floods in the region.

Following Ortom’s visit, the LP candidate declared he was halting his campaigning due to the widespread flooding around the nation.

Ossai responded by saying Obi “left Anambra state, which is under water, to go to Benue state to play politics with flood victims.”

He claimed that Obi wasn’t prepared for the campaign because of the disarray in his party, but that he was using the cover of showing sympathy for flood victims to call for an end to other candidates’ campaigns.

It irritates me that he is pleading with Atiku Abubakar and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to halt their campaigns due to flooding.

“When his state, Anambra, was being inundated, he hurried to Benue state to see flood victims.

“You are not allowed to visit your home when you are at another man’s home.

He ought to visit his flood-affected neighbors in Anambra rather than travel to Benue State to engage in political games.

“Instead of brainwashing Nigerians against political parties campaigning, Peter Obi should inform us that he is not prepared for campaigns owing to the chaos in the Labour Party.

Asking Atiku and Tinubu to halt their campaigning is inappropriate.

Candidates can still help flood victims by visiting them and delivering aid notwithstanding the campaigns.

Political parties are not breaking the law because campaigns have a set period of time, according to this.
