Following a private discussion with the Senate leadership, striking members of the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) plan to end their two-week strike.
On Tuesday, August 8, Dr. Emeka Innocent Orji, the national president of NARD, said this shortly after a private meeting with Senator Godswill Akpabio, the president of the Senate, and other Principal Officers of the Senate.
“We had a very fruitful meeting with the Senate led by the President of the Senate, and from our discussions with them, we are very hopeful that when we table our discussions today before the NEC, something positive would come out,” he said.
We are extremely sure that there will be light at the end of the tunnel within the next 24 hours based on our conversation with the President of the Senate and the practical demonstration he performed in front of us today.
