The incumbent Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has declared the seat of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, vacant.
This comes after Gbajabiamila presented his resignation letter to the plenary on Wednesday, June 14, under personal explanation.
After reading the letter to members, Abbas stated, “We have today declared the seat of Surulere Lagos Constituency vacant following the resignation of Gbajabiamila.”
Gbajabiamila stated in his letter of resignation to the Speaker that he would be taking on a new post as President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff (CoS).
The immediate prior Speaker also stated that he will no longer serve in the 10th House of Representatives.
