Governor Sheriff Oboreveori of Delta State vowed on Friday to remain in office for all Deltans and appealed for support from the populace as he works to create a thriving and successful state.
This was said by Oborevwori during a prayer session in gratitude for his triumphs at the Supreme Court and the Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which was conducted at the Government House Chapel in Asaba.
On Friday, the Supreme Court rejected a Chief Ikie Aghwarianovwe appeal that asked for his disqualification due to its lack of merit.
Recall that the Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal dismissed Mr. Ken Pela’s petition, the Labour Party’s candidate for governor, on Thursday because he had abandoned it.
Oborevwori thanked Almighty God for intervening in the affairs of state and committed the court victory to Him.
He noted that the foundation of his government was Christ, saying, “Today, we stand here victorious and we are grateful to God for guiding us through this difficult journey. We are more than victors because God has won our wars.
“These triumphs from yesterday and today are dedicated to God and are His Excellence, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa’s early birthday presents.
“I commend Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, our leader, for the foundation he has built. I once remarked to him that he had accomplished things for which he would be remembered.
“I appeal to Deltans to know that the victories we have recorded are not from men, but from God, and we give God all the praise.”
Ven. Charles Osemenam, the Government House Chapel’s chaplain, had earlier urged Nigerians not to engage in the evil practice of bringing people low in a sermon.
He saw that there would undoubtedly be serious repercussions for every act of evil.
Oborevwori was exhorted by Osemenam to view his court victory as a special invitation to stand with Christ and provide selfless devotion to God and humanity.
