On August 2, 2023, a Federal High Court in Lagos convicted a woman, Okoye Blessing Nwakaego, to three years in prison for cyberstalking Nollywood star Eniola Badmus on TikTok.
Nwakaego was found guilty by Justice Nicholas Oweibo after entering a guilty plea to a two-count charge of cyb£rst@lking. However, the judge took into account the convict’s regret and gave her the option of choosing to pay a fine of N150,000 rather than go to jail.
The accusation states that between December 2022 and July 2023 in Lagos, Nwakaego and a man named Chimabia (who is now at large) conspired to conduct the offense. Additionally, it was claimed that the pair purposefully allowed her mobile number to be used in communications on a number of blogs and social media platforms.
She acted “grossly off£nssiv£, f@lse and to cause ann@yanc£, inconvenience, d@ng£r, inslt, injury, criminal int#mid@tion, enm#ty, hatr£d & needless anx#ety to the prejudice of Badmus,” according to the police.
