The FCT Police Command has debunked claims of interference in the upcoming NUJ FCT 2024 elections, clarifying its role in investigating forgery allegations raised in a formal petition.
On November 25, 2024, three petitioners—Mr. Emeka Nze, Mr. Victorson Agbenson, and Mr. Johnchuks Onuanyim—accused four individuals, including Miss Grace Ike and Mr. Jide Oyekunle Adeyemi, of forging Postgraduate Diploma certificates from the International Institute of Journalism, Abuja. Acting on these allegations, the police invited the accused for questioning to verify the claims.
The Command emphasized that its actions are purely investigative, with no connection to the election process. Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh reiterated that the force, under Inspector General Kayode Egbetokun, is committed to impartiality, transparency, and upholding the rule of law.
The public is urged to avoid spreading misinformation as the investigation unfolds. Updates will be shared in due course to maintain public trust.
