Chimaroke Nnamani, a former senator for Enugu East District and the governor of Enugu State, has been ordered to take a “early” retirement by Labour Party leader Kelvin Chukwu (LP).
Chukwu received 69,136 votes overall, defeating PDP candidate Nnamani, who received 48,701 votes.
Oyibo Chukwu, who was appointed just days before the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections, was replaced by Kelvin.
In a statement released on March 19 to admit defeat, Nnamani said: “The election result is in sync with the rave of the time in the South East zone among those who have connected with the Labour Party. A different outcome would have refuted the trend.
I wish the incoming senator from Enugu East a fruitful term in the upper house of representatives.
