The former provost of the Federal College of Education Abeokuta, Dr. Ayodele Adetayo Ajayi, was kidnapped by unidentified individuals at Olodo along the Abeokuta-Ibadan road.

On Tuesday evening, July 25, Ajayi was arrested together with his wife and driver in Ikija Village, Odeda Local Government, Ogun State.

According to reports, Ajayi and his driver were taken away while the abductors eventually freed his wife.

A resident told Vanguard that the gunmen emerged from the bush to attack Ajayi and other drivers who were on the road.

The gunmen who shot occasional missiles into the air, he said, obstructed traffic and abducted their victims.

“Just yesterday, the gnmen kidnapped five people; nevertheless, two of them were later freed.

Moreover, three persons were killed last month. One of those k#lled was a well-known businessman who ran a farm near the axis.

Help is needed; this is becoming too much. The source claimed that our people were no longer safe.
