After departing Greek champions Olympiakos Piraeus, Brazilian defender Marcelo has agreed to a two-year contract with Fluminense, the Brazilian Serie A team said on Friday.
According to Fluminense, Marcelo signed a contract that runs through December 2024 with an option to extend through the end of 2025.
Flumimense tweeted, “Your home is and always will be Flumimense, @MarceloM12,” accompanied with a clip depicting Marcelo’s career in its entirety.

“I struggle to put into words how important this moment is to me. The squad that developed me and taught me everything I know about football is where I’ve always wanted to start, Marcelo said on the official website.
In Fluminense, the 34-year-old began both his amateur and professional careers. In 2007, he switched from the Brazilian team to Real Madrid, and during the course of 15 seasons, he made 546 appearances for the Spanish champions.
With 25 championships, including five Champions League wins, he was the most accomplished player in Real Madrid’s 120-year history when he left at the conclusion of the previous campaign.
On Saturday, Olympiakos made the announcement that Marcelo had left the team, five months after signing with them in September.
