The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced the arrest of four suspected bandits within the vicinity of Akure Airport.
FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, disclosed the development in a statement on Sunday.
According to Agbebire, the arrests were carried out following a coordinated security operation involving FAAN’s Aviation Security (AVSEC), the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and local security personnel.
“The arrest followed a distress alert that suspicious individuals were sighted behind the airport perimeter near the Eleyewo community. Security personnel immediately launched a joint search operation,” the statement read.
FAAN assured the travelling public and airport host communities of its unwavering commitment to ensuring safety and security within and around the airport.
