On Monday, Francis Van-Lare, the father-in-law of Dr. Ikenna Erinne, publicly addressed and refuted claims that financial struggles related to a $15,000 monthly child support ruling contributed to the cardiologist’s suicide. Van-Lare clarified that the actual child support amount was $1,900, which Erinne sometimes paid partially, dispelling the exaggerated figure circulating online.

Van-Lare also countered claims about Erinne’s character, sharing screenshots of restraining orders filed against him in Maryland, and described him as anything but the peaceful, quiet individual some have claimed. In a strongly worded statement, Van-Lare expressed his frustration with false narratives, particularly accusing the deceased of being a “deadbeat dad” and threatening to share further revelations if misinformation continued to spread.

In his Facebook post, Van-Lare recounted a disturbing incident in which Erinne allegedly held his daughter and grandchildren hostage at gunpoint for three hours after losing a custody battle. According to Van-Lare, it was only after the nanny managed to escape and call the police that Erinne tragically took his own life when law enforcement arrived. He revealed that Erinne faced serious charges, including three counts of kidnapping with a deadly weapon, which carried severe prison sentences.

Despite the shocking details, Van-Lare expressed sympathy for Erinne’s family, emphasizing that his daughter should not be blamed for the doctor’s tragic actions. He also thanked God that the situation did not escalate further.
