Tunji Wusu –
A panel of inquiry into the dispute surrounding the top-scoring candidate in the UTME in 2023 has been established by the Anambra government.
In a statement released on Monday in Awka, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, the Commissioner for Education, announced the formation of the panel.
She stated that a panel of inquiry had been established to collaborate with security personnel to look into the claim of result fabrication made against Mmesoma Ejikeme, who had previously been highlighted on social media as having received the highest score.
The commissioner called the dispute surrounding the girl’s true score unpleasant, especially since it occurred when Anambra Governor Chukwuma Soludo was repositioning the state’s educational system.
It may be remembered that Ejikeme, a student at the Anglican Girls Secondary School Uruagu in Nnewi, was once applauded for achieving the highest score—362—in the 2023 UTME, a result that JAMB deemed to be fraudulent.
Ejikeme falsified her true score from 249 to 362, according to a statement released on Sunday by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The state government has praised Nkechinyere Umeh, who received a cumulative score of 360 in the 2023 UTME and was named by JAMB as the national top scorer.
