A former beauty queen, Aderinoye Queen Christmas—also known as Queen Oluwadamilola Aderinoye—has turned herself in to the Lagos State Command after being wanted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for about eight months. She had been avoiding capture since fleeing her Lekki estate, where authorities had been informed of her involvement in drug trafficking.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi reported that Aderinoye, who had been hiding since a January 2024 raid connected her to drug activities, surrendered on August 28, 2024. Previously, she was Miss Commonwealth Nigeria Culture 2015/2016 and founded the Queen Christmas Foundation. She had been hiding in Akure, Ondo State, since the raid.
During the raid at her home, NDLEA agents found 606 grams of Canadian Loud (a strong synthetic cannabis), an electronic scale, drug packaging materials, and a black RAV4 SUV with Lagos plates.
In other drug-related news, NDLEA agents recently seized 1,122 kilograms of cannabis from a suspect named Mustapha Ibrahim on Orchid Road in Ajah, Lagos State, on August 26. Another 816 kilograms of cannabis were also recovered from the same area, belonging to a different suspect who is still at large.
NDLEA Chairman Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) praised the agency’s officers for their hard work and dedication. He highlighted the importance of reducing both drug demand and supply as key parts of the agency’s ongoing efforts to fight drug crime.
