FUBARA DECLARES THE 10TH ASSEMBLY, AND RIVERS ELECTS A NEW SPEAKER.

The 10th assembly speaker and deputy speaker were chosen by the Rivers State House of Assembly to run the house’s operations for the ensuing four years.

Martin Amaewhule, a politician from Obio/Apkor constituency 1, was chosen as speaker, and Dumle Mao, a member from Gokana, was chosen as deputy speaker.

After the 10th Assembly was proclaimed by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Amaewhule, the leader of the 9th Assembly, was nominated by a lawmaker from the Okrika state constituency, Linda Somiari Stalwart, and seconded by a member of the Akuku-Toru constituency, Major Jack.

Shortly after taking the oath of office, the new Speaker, Martin Amaewhule, pledged a top-notch Assembly that will produce laws that will stand the test of time.

Additionally, he stated that the 10th Assembly will serve as a unifying force while guaranteeing that whatever they do will be for the good of the State.

However, the new speaker commended the governor for proclamating the assembly as well as Nyesom Wike, the immediately preceding governor, for his advancements in state development.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Assembly personnel for helping with official business.

All members in attendance voted overwhelmingly to elect the new speaker, who is serving his fourth term, and the house then adjourned until the following Wednesday, July 7, 2023.
