Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has criticized the contractors responsible for the complete overhaul of Okrika Grammar School in Okrika Local Government Area, citing the slow progress of work.

During a visit to the project site on Monday, the governor voiced his frustration, questioning the education commissioner’s earlier claim that 70% of the work had been completed. From his observations, the actual progress was significantly lower than reported.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, on Monday, Governor Fubara expressed his anger and revealed plans to summon a meeting with the contractors. He intends to firmly address the situation and ensure adherence to agreed project timelines and standards.

The governor emphasized the importance of the project, which aims to restore Okrika Grammar School to its former glory. He highlighted that the school had produced many notable figures who excelled in politics and other fields, not just in Rivers State, but globally.
