On Monday night, an explosion occurred as a fuel truck was being discharged at the Optimal Petrol station in the Aule neighborhood of Akure, the capital of the Ondo state.
As soon as the taker burst, the locals fled for their life. Fearing that the fire would spread to adjacent homes, vendors at the retail center hastily packed their items at the same time.
To stop the fire from spreading to adjacent buildings, it took the quick arrival of fire fighters from the Federal Fire Service and Ondo State Fire Service.
Emmanuel Solomon, an eyewitness, stated that the hot heat was to blame for the truck exploding. The pressure caused the explosion.
He revealed that this was the tanker’s first journey to discharge gasoline since the owner had recently bought it.
Imuesemen John, the neighborhood’s youth leader, declared that “the youngsters of our community joined the firefighters to put out the fire.”
No lives were lost, but some things were destroyed. We beg for help from the government. Outside of the community, filling stations ought to be constructed. Our top priority is keeping us safe.
A merchant claimed that some thugs took advantage of the situation to rob certain stores, and she claimed that people who came to help her pack her goods for safety stole N35,000.
“These homes would have all burned down. What we lost, God will make up for. I was present when they delivered the fuel, and a short while later, the fire began to burn.
“Perhaps those helping to park out my stuff stole the N35,000 I stored in my shop.”
