A petrol-laden tanker erupted into flames at Karu Bridge along the bustling Abuja-Nyanya-Keffi Road, unleashing an inferno that consumed no fewer than 30 vehicles and sparked widespread panic.
The devastating explosion, which occurred, sent plumes of thick smoke into the sky as terrified commuters scrambled for safety. Eyewitnesses recounted scenes of chaos, with flames spreading rapidly and intensifying fears of multiple casualties.
As of the time of filing this report, neither fire service personnel nor security operatives had arrived at the scene, leaving bystanders and affected motorists in distress. The cause of the explosion remains unclear, but concerns over the safety of fuel transportation on major highways have resurfaced.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement, but rescue operations are expected to commence as emergency responders mobilize to the disaster site.
