On Saturday, January 25, 2025, a devastating fuel tanker explosion claimed the lives of at least 15 people, including children, in Ugwu Onyeama, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State. The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m., igniting a fierce fire that engulfed another tanker and six other vehicles, creating chaos in the area. Eyewitnesses described the scene as catastrophic, with numerous victims trapped in the flames. Due to the intense heat and widespread destruction, rescue operations faced significant challenges. Sadly, many of the victims, believed to be passengers in the affected vehicles, were burned beyond recognition.
