Babatunji Wusu –

Top Super Falcons players, including Asisat Oshoala of Barcelona and Rasheedat Ajibade of Atletico Madrid, have been nominated for the 2023 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Women’s Player of the Year award.

On Tuesday, the football organization announced the nominee list. Aside from Oshoala and Ajibade, there were five other female Nigerian players on the list, which comprised at least 30 female players from across Africa.

The 2023 CAF awards ceremony will be held in Marrakech, Morocco, on December 11, 2023.

Uchenna Kanu, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Osinachi Ohale, Toni Payne, and Christy Ucheibe are among the other Nigerian players nominated.

Randy Waldrum, the Super Falcons’ head coach, was also nominated for coach of the year, while Deborah Abiodun, Esther Ajakaye, and Oluwatosin Demehin were nominated for Best Young Player of the Year.

Nigeria has the most nominations for the CAF Awards.
