Super Falcons striker Gift Monday has etched her name in National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) history after being crowned Player of the Week.
The 23-year-old forward netted a stunning hat-trick in Washington Spirit’s 4-0 demolition of Houston Dash on Sunday night, setting the record for the fastest hat-trick in league history.
Her dazzling performance earned her 50.3% of the 881 votes cast, beating Gotham FC’s Rose Lavelle (35%), Utah Royals goalkeeper Mia Justus (8.1%), and Kansas City Current’s Bia Zaneratto (6.7%).
Monday, who has been in red-hot form, has now scored eight goals this season for Washington Spirit, cementing her place as one of the most lethal forwards in the league.
